374,165. Convertible bedsteads. BENNIE, D. A., Petershill Road, Glasgow. March 11, 1931, No. 7477. [Class 52 (ii).] A bed frame 1 is hinged to the rear top edge of a chest 4 so that it can be tilted to stand vertically behind the chest when out of use ; also hinged to the bed frame is a table or bureau structure 2 upon which, and upon the chest 4, the bed frame rests when in use. The front of the structure above the bureau 2 may have glazed or panelled doors and can be used as a wardrobe or to store bed clothes. Counterweights and dashpot or damper mechanism may be embodied to control the bed frame during movement and a folding head 11 with a linkage for automatic operation may be provided. The mattress surface may lie within the structure in which case drop sides 101 are used, or may be so mounted as to be raised when in use by means operated by movement of the bed or in the way set forth in Specification 309,647, [Class 52 (ii), Furniture for sitting &c. upon].
