Abstract

299,262. Hamp, R. April 4, 1928. Seats convertible into tables.-In a convertible table and settee or like seat the table top is inverted and positioned at a lower level to serve as a seat, and a portion which is normally under the table comes into position to serve as a seat back. Figs. 2 and 4 show the settee arrangement, the upholstered seat 1 and back 15 being arranged between the two-column table ends 2 surmounted by parts 12 which serve also as table-top ends when the part 1 is swung upwards about the pivots 6, upon which it is suspended by brackets 7. The frame of the back 15 is pivoted at 16; when it is not required, its lower edge 19 is freed from the strip 20 at the back of the seat 1, and it is turned into an approximately horizontal position, upholstery downwards, beneath the table top 1. In a modification, Fig. 8, the seat 1 and back 14a are hinged together and are mounted on pivots 6<a>; before turning the seat up to form a table top the back 14<a> is swung down, and secured to the seat by a hook and eye 23 so that back and seat move together.
