Abstract

469,200. Bed - settees. GItIFFITI1S, G. D. March 19, 1936, No. 8220. [Class 52 (ii)] A bed-settee comprises a box-like support 1, a lid 10 hinged to one edge of the support 1 and carrying a number of battens 8 which pass through slots in the lid and are pivotally attached thereto and form the frame of the settee back 11. The lower ends of the battens normally engage in holes in the bottom of the support 1, but are released therefrom on raising the lid 10, so that the back falls into the plane of the lid, forming a bed surface. The battens 8 are located between battens 6 attached to the underside of the lid. A mattress hinged longitudinally along its centre line forms the seat cushion and back cushion of the settee.
