665,495. Sewing. DYKE, L. VAN, and DYKE, M. F. VAN, (trading as VAN DYKE TEXTIGRAPH CO.). May 28,1949 [March 10, 1949], No. 14358/49. Class 112. A tufting device comprises a tubular housing 10, a slot 40 in the wall of the housing, a block 47 reciprocatable in the housing and having a notch 48 adjacent the slot, and an eyeless hollow one-piece needle 50 rigidly secured to the block so that the bore of the needle is in direct communication with the notch. The needle is reciprocated by a rotary flexible drive having a withdrawable coupling member 16 engaging a rotatable member 19 in the device. The member 19 rotates a member 26 having a double screw thread 27. The thread is engaged by a pin 31 so that the member 26 is reciprocated on rotation. A non-rotary member 38 is reciprocated by the member 26 and carries the block and,two needles. Tubular guides 12 are provided for the yarn. Oil may be supplied to the pin 31 through a hole 33.
