665,215. Furnaces. STEUERMAN, M. June 29, 1950 [June 13, 1949], No. 15664/49. Class 51 (i). A secondary-air preheater adapted to be fixed to the inside of the fire-door of a furnace and being in the form of a hollow box or casing furnished with one or more inlets leading from outside the door and one or more outlets through which air is discharged into the furnace, is characterized by the inclusion of means for varying the direction of the discharge of the secondary air from the casing of the apparatus into the furnace chamber. As shown in the Figures, the front wall of the casing 1 is. provided with a longitudinal slot 7 in which is rotatably mounted a cylindrical rod 8 supported on end bearings 9, 10. The rod has a series of transverse holes 16 through which air from the interior of the casing is discharged into the furnace, the rod being angularly movable, by means of pivoted links 11, 14, so that the direction of the air issuing from the holes 16 may be varied.
