Class 103(ii) In a hinged vehicle door of the type comprising single or double " jack-knife " leaves which swing inwardly into a stepwell inside the vehicle, the bottom free corner remote from the door post hinge of the door or its first leaf is cut away to form a gap bounded by a vertical edge at least as high as the lowermost step riser and a substantially horizontal edge which conforms with the contour of the step tread, and a supplemental door is movably mounted on the door adjacent the gap so as to close the gap when the door is in the shut position, and to be positioned clear of the gap when the door is opened. In the embodiment shown, the supplemental door 6 is hinged at 8 to the main door 5 and rests against the step riser 3 when the main door is open. In an alternative embodiment, the door 6 is hinged along its upper horizontal edge and rests on the tread 4 when the main door is open, the hinges being spring-loaded in both embodiments so that the door 6 is automatically moved into line with the door 5 when the latter is closed. The riser 3 or the tread 4 may be recessed to accommodate the door 6 and in the arrangement shown in Fig 1 a roller on the lower edge of the door 6 may engage a guide track formed in the step 2. In a further embodiment, the door 6 may slide within the door 5 as its outer vertical edge moves along the riser 3, springs being provided to return the door to its extended position when the main door is closed.
