Abstract

121,276. McMinn, D. K. Dec. 6, 1917, [Convention date]. Rising hinges.-The door or window is provided with rising hinges and a roller M or a shoe operating in conjunction with a ramp H to raise the door &c. clear of the transom at the top of the frame when the door is opened, and forming a means by which the door automatically closes by its own weight. The rising hinge for the upper part of the door &c. may be constructed as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, in which a rod C is fixed to the frame B, and a roller D or a slide carried by a slotted bracket fixed to the door &c. A bears against the rod. On opening the door &c., the roller turns round and slides up the rod. The hinge for the lower part of the door &c. is similarly constructed, but the roller D is placed on the right-hand side of the rod C. The ramp and roller may be placed at the top of the frame and door &c. respectively. A stop L may be provided on the ramp.
