Abstract

663,868. Pneumatic coin carriers. LAMSON ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. June 29, 1949. [Aug. 26, 1948] No. 22529/48. Class 78 (i). A pneumatic carrier conveyer is provided with an air control device operated by the movement of the door 2 of the despatch terminal, and a movable stop 6 is adapted to project into or be withdrawn from the despatch tube at the said terminal, movement of the stop being effected by the pressure in the air main of the system and. the application of which to effect such movement is controlled by a valve 15 actuated by means 19 responsive to the air flow through the air control connection pipe 1 at the terminal, the arrangement being such that on a reduction of the air flow to a predetermined valve said stop is projected into the despatch tube to prevent the introduction of further carriers. Fig. 1. Pin 6 is normally restrained from projecting into despatch terminus 2 by pressure diaphragm 5 which is sucked back by suction action acting through pipe 14, valve 15 and pipe 12 ; pipe 14 being connected to the suction in the air main, and valve 15 being kept unseated and open by vane 19 which is pivoted at 18 in the air stream of the control tube 1, and has rigid extension 17 which presses upon valve stem 16. When too many carriers have been introduced into the pneumatic conveyer tube 3 the air pressure drops in the air control tube 1 and vane 19 drops and causes valve 15 to close thus shutting off suction pipe 14 and permitting diaphragm 5 to expand and pin 6 to project into despatch terminus 2 so that no more carriers may be introduced.
