Abstract
915,937. Drainage valves; drainage systems. LILJENDAHL S. A., J. May 25, 1959 [May 28, 1958], No. 17773/59. Class 33. In a sewerage system comprising one or more closet bowls, urinals or like sanitary conveniences connected through individual discharge valves to an outlet conduit SE terminating in a sewage collecting receptacle LBE in which a vacuum is maintained, for transporting sewage thereto by suction on opening any discharge valve whence it is transported by conduits E to a main receptacle B, and means to create an air pressure difference between receptacles LBE and B, cut-off means e.g. a plunger 3, is provided in the outlet conduit SE actuated for closure by a control device to interrupt communication between the conduit SE and the receptacle LBE upon a continuous flow of air into the conduit SE for a time considerably in excess of the time during which a particular discharge valve is normally open and to maintain the plunger 3 closed until the air flow has ceased. The control device comprises a cylinder 6 and a piston 7, connected to the plunger 3, and movable therein against the action of a restoring force, the space behind the piston 7 being connected through a passage 9 to the conduit SE, the air entering the latter thus moving the piston 7. The piston 7 is coupled with the plunger 3 through a connection between a pin 12 and a slot 11 in a piston rod 10 rapidly to move the plunger 3 to its closed position when the piston 7 has moved downward a predetermined distance. The conduit SE then communicates with the receptacle LBE through a narrow flow passage 17. At least two conduits SE extend into the receptacle LBE, each closed at the mouth by a valve disc 4 with a counterweight 5. The receptacle LBE may be discharged by compressed air, when communication between it and the vacuum source is interrupted by a valve device. Specification 867,664 is referred to.
