Abstract

1298414 Magnetic switches SAUNIER DUVAL 12 Nov 1970 [5 Dec 1969] 53934/70 Heading H1N [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for detecting the passage of a cartridge in a pneumatic conveyer tube comprises a by-pass tube 3 connected to the tubes at points A, B spaced apart by a distance greater than the length of a cartridge, whereby the pressure differential between the upstream and downstream ends of the cartridge is utilized to move a magnet 4 positioned in the by-pass tube. The magnet in its rest position against an abutment or elbow in the tube, reacts with a switch blade of a device 5 in a control circuit 6, such that on passage of a cartridge and the resultant movement of the magnet, the magnetic effect of the magnet on the blade is reduced to close or open the switch. A further magnet (not shown) outside the tube may be used to return the magnet 4 to its initial position after disturbance by the passage of a cartridge.
