662,772. Weighting-saddles for spinning &c. frames. DIXON LUBRICATING SADDLE CO. Jan. 19,1949 [Jan. 27, 1948], No. 1508/49. Class 120(ii) A weighting saddle for the top rolls of textile machines has detachable bearings thereon for the arbors of said rolls, said bearings having their arbor contacting portions composed of material having a hardness substantially that of a Rockwell hardness of 90-95 on the M scale, for example, Nylon. The saddle' assembly shown comprises a front saddle 16 which is a sheet metal pressing and which totally encloses a back saddle 17 which is also of sheet metal. The two are held together by means of an upwardly extending key 40 having a rounded protuberance 42 projecting through a slot 29 in a weight-pressure plate 25 which is secured to the front saddle 16. The bearing elements 35, 36 and 37 which are of a material having a hardness of 90-95 on the Rockwell M scale, e.g. Nylon, have longitudinal grooves 45,48. and 52 respectively which engage with the flanges 24, 33 and 34 of the saddles 16 and 17 and are thus held in their respective positions for bearing on the arbors 8, 9 and 10 of the upper front, middle and back rolls 5a-5b; 6a-6b; 7a-7b respectively. The saddle assembly is weighted through a stirrup 18 in the usual manner.
