Abstract

662,291. Cable stoppers. CLARK, CHAPMAN, & CO., Ltd., and WOODESON, E. 1., [Representative of WOODESON, W. A.] June 14, 1950. [June 20, 1949: Nov. 28, 1949] Nos. 16390/49 and 30478/49. Class 78 (ii). In a bow stopper for anchor cables of the kind described in Specifications 561,650 and 621,540, the anchor is held tightly up to the hawse pipe by a screw-actuated claw device j which engages a link d<SP>1</SP> of the cable. The looped end j<SP>1</SP> of the claw device is engaged by the hooked end g of a bolt f which is slidably but non-rotatably mounted in a sleeve e integral with the hood a of the stopper. The upper end of the bolt is threaded and carries an adjusting nut h. In a modification the bolt is pivoted in bearings provided on the hood and the grooved pulley k is approximately of the same size as the cable holder of the cablewinding windlass.
