Abstract

1280586 Ships anchors UHER PATENT GA 4 Nov 1970 [7 Nov 1969 6 Aug 1970] 52466/70 Heading B7S A anchor having coplanar flukes 7 and a cross-pin 8 at the end of the shaft 5a near the point of attachment of chain 6 is provided with apparatus for hauling in and letting out thereof comprising a pulley 9 having flanges 10 which are of a large diameter so that as the anchor is winched up, the cross-pin 8 is carried around on the edges of the flanges 10 so that the leverage which need be exerted by the chain 6 to turn the anchor for stowage is reduced. A device may be provided for aligning pin 8 parallel to the axis of pulley 9 as it reaches the pulley. The lowering of the anchor, on slackening of chain 6 may be initially spring assisted.
