Abstract

598,037. Mooring ships. COPE, S. T. Aug. 29, 1945, No. 22275. [Class.]. 113 (i)] Mooring means for flying boats and the like includes a pair of ground chains or cables 14a and 14b attached to a buoy's suspended tail chain 13, shorter in length than the depth of the water, and adapted to be laid on the sea bed 17 in diametrically opposed direction so that, when a load is applied due to movement of the craft 1, one chain acts to oppose the straightening of the other, thus acting as a shock-absorber. Additional loading may be provided by short lengths of chain 18 connected to the ground chains at intervals. The buoy 6 is made of rubber or rubber and metal.
