Abstract

361,720. Anchoring aircraft. OEHMICHEN, E., Rue des Graviers, Valentigney, Doubs, France. Jan. 29, 1931, No. 2936. Convention date, Feb. 6, 1930. [Class 4.] An anchoring device for an aircraft comprises one or more harpooning devices 2 arranged at the aft end, or fore and aft, of the body 1 of the aircraft and adapted to shoot harpoons 3 into the ground, ropes 5 attached to the harpoons being wound on winches 4 which are first braked to stop the aircraft and then revolved to tow the aircraft back above its point of anchorage. The discharging devices 2 are sloped to enable the harpoons to be shot downwardly and forwardly. Two discharging devices may be arranged in parallel at each end and be operated simultaneously, one winch only being necessary for each pair. A screw brake such as 6 may be employed for the winches and rupture of the rope may be avoided by providing yielding means in the rope itself or in the support for a sheave 9 over which the pulley runs. The harpoon guns are actuated by a compressed fluid.
