864,849. Hydraulically-operated grabs. AM, E. Nov. 12, 1959, No. 38386/59. Class 78 (4). An hydraulicallyoperated grab has its jaws 1, 2 connected by links 14 to the upper end of the piston-rod 5 of the operating-ram which has its cylinder 3 arranged so that its weight helps to open the jaws. As shown, the cylinder 3 is pivoted at 4 to the jaws 1, 2. The feed to the cylinder 3 may be through a pipe 6 and a valve 7 controlled by a pull 8, or through a bore in the piston-rod 5 from a pipe 10 connected to a three-way valve (not shown), or both. These feeds may be provided in a single construction.
