661,682. Lifting jacks. CHASSIS METALLIQUE BELGE CHAMEBEL SOC. ANON. Jan. 10, 1949. [Nov. 23, 1948] No. 689/49. Class 78 (iii). [Also in Group X] A support adapted to be located between two bearing surfaces and to support removable parts such as panels and partitions, comprises a column provided at one end with a first member adapted to be applied to one of said bearing surfaces and having secured therein at the other end an internally threaded part engaged by a screw projecting longitudinally from said column and carrying through a guided spring a second member adapted to bear against the second of said bearing surfaces whereby on rotation of said screw, said members are brought tc bear on the bearing surfaces and yielding pressure is constantly exerted on said surfaces. The column 1 of sectional sheet metal is furnished with a shoe 2 at its lower end and at its upper end with a plate 9 which is mounted on a rod 8 slidably mounted in a screw 4 engaging a nut 3, the plate being supported in its raised position by a spring 11 resting on a collar 5 integral with the screw. The screw is rotated by means of a tool engaged in one of the openings 6 in the collar 5. A panel or partition may be secured to the column by nuts and bolts.
