Abstract

A structure for supporting and connecting panels or frames comprises a post 5 (Fig. 5) on a floor, a bracket 10" to be secured to a ceiling, a thrust-transmitting bush 21, a bush 15, both of which cooperate with the post 5 and bracket 10" to urge them apart to locate the post 5 between the ceiling and the floor, and a panel or frame-locating member 14 having a bore to receive the bush 21 and at least two arms 26 to extend as shown to which a panel or frame can be attached. The bush 15 is displaceable axially in the member 19 by means of a nut 16 engaging threads on it. The bush 15 is flanged and threaded internally and externally, the member 19 being held on the bush 15 by a nut 16 engaging the bush 15 where shown, the bush 21 being threaded to engage at one end within it, at the other end bearing against a plate 6' on the post 5 by passing through it to some extent and apertured to receive a bar for rotation. In another form (Fig. 7) the bore 34 in the locating member 19' is threaded and a pin 35 is screwed into it at one end, the other end engaging against the post and the pin 35 being adjustable thereon. The member 19 or 19' forms a false ceiling. A support member 28, 31 includes a channel section 28, on the ceiling 1"', carrying means 30 to clamp a bar 31 with a head 32 to support the member 19', an U-shaped element 36 being between the section 28 and the member 19'. The clamping means 30 may be adjustable and for the element 36 there may be several vertically-adjustable parts. In a variant (Fig. 8) there is an angled bracket 38 having an end 37 on the ceiling and a free end 40 on which is a flat plate 41, supported by a nut 39 and having attached thereto two bars, passing through a locating member 19", with supporting heads 34', the spacing member 36' being where shown.
