A device for coupling rectangular section upright 4 and horizontal 5 components of a shelf support frame or scaffolding comprises a metal, U-shaped member 2 with a web 1 formed with holes to receive clamping screws 7 and with limbs 2a defining upwardly open hooks. The upright 4 is engaged in the closed end of the coupling member 2 and is clamped by the screws 7 against the horizontal component 5 seated in rectangular recesses 3 defining the hooks. Further bolts 8, 10 passed through the limbs 2a respectively engage a transverse horizontal frame member 9 and the upright 4.
