A leg unit for supporting a single article of furniture or for joining together and supporting similar adject articles of furniture has a channel-shape mounting element 1 for connection to an article of furniture and a connecting element 7, with base 8 and walls 9, 10 with flanges 11 to engage element 1, secured to the leg by a screw threaded stud 17 engaging a nut 15 welded to base 8, the element 7 being securable to the element 1 of a single article by screws 14a or to adjacent elements of two furniture articles. In a modification, Fig. 4, the connecting element comprises a casting slidable in guides 19 of a mounting element 20 and having a boss 21 to receive a leg 26 which is secured by a bolt 24 and nut 25.
