Abstract
661,244. Mixing appliances. PEERLESS & ERICSSON, Ltd., and STOCKHOLM, K. May 30, 1950 [June 2, 1949], No. 14787/49. Class 86 In a mixing machine for foodstuffs of the type in which an agitator depends in a bowl, the provision of a power take-off on the power transmission driving the stirrer and a unitary structure comprising a rotary air compressor, an intake drive shaft being geared to the rotor shaft of the air compressor, and means for detachably fixing the unitary structure to the frame of the mixing machine with the said intake shaft coupled to the power take-off. As described, a casting 1, Fig. 1, forms a combined compressor cylinder 2 and gear housing 3, a rotor 4 within the cylinder 2 being coupled to a gear wheel 8 within the housing. The gear wheel 8 is carried by a driving shaft 7 rotatably mounted within a boss 6 formed upon gear housing cover plate 5,. the boss 6 being adapted to enter and to be secured within a boss 16, Fig. 2, on the side of the mixing machine so that the shaft 7 engages a coupling sleeve 17 on a power take-off shaft 15. The outlet 12 of the compressor is coupled to one end of a heating or cooling coil 13 in a container 11 carried by a platform 10 extending from the gear housing. The other end of the coil 13 is coupled by a coupling 14 to a flexible pipe which is adapted to be coupled to the underside of the mixing bowl for supplying compressed air to be blown into the material contained in the bowl.
