Abstract

687,800. Sharpening knife blades. OLIVER ENGINEERING (SURREY), Ltd., and OLIVER, W. T. Nov. 26, 1951 [Nov. 24, 1950], No. 28750/50. Class 60. A grinding machine for sharpening blades of knives or the like has a main casting 1 housing an electric motor which drives directly or through gearing a driving shaft mounted in bearings' on the casting. The driving shaft has keyed thereto a double V-pulley connected by an open belt and a crossed belt to V-pulleys on driven shafts which carry y grinding wheels 12, 12<SP>1</SP>, 13, 13<SP>1</SP>. The grinding wheels are enclosed by shrouds 14, 15 secured to the casting. The belting is located outside the casting 1 and is enclosed by a casing secured to the casting and having ventilating holes; a cover 18 with ventilating holes 19 is secured to the other end of the casting 1.
