Abstract

594,977. Washing-machines. HEATING CONSTRUCTION, Ltd., DARBY, H. G., and LAMBERT, S. E. Feb. 12, 1946, No. 3411/45. [Class 138 (ii)] Mechanism for oscillating a.washing-machine agitator, and mounted on the cover 13 of the washing container, comprises a forked oscillating lever 34 geared to the agitator shaft 12 and actuated by a crank or eccentric 31 driven through reduction gearing 28, 29 and a flexible shaft 39 from an electric motor. The oscillating lever, eccentric and reduction gears are journalled on pins 38, 30 and 27 mounted on a base-plate 15 secured to the cover 13, and, as shown, the flexible shaft enters at one side of a cover 40 and drives the mechanism through bevel gears 25, 26. The motor is preferably mounted in a lower part of the machine casing.
