Abstract

660,103. Piston packing. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Aug. 8, 1947 [July 26, 1940], No. 22164/47. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 8, 1947] Class 122(i) A piston packing comprises a ring 73 substantially triangular in cross-section and of synthetic rubber-like material, which is adherently bonded to a brass-plated section 74 of a disc 76 forming a piston. The packing has lips 78, 80 that engage the cylinder walls. In a modification, the apex of the triangular crosssection has a rectangular cross-section that is bonded to the plate. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a ring that is of T-shaped cross-section with a ring of synthetic material able to absorb oil embedded in its peripheral face. Instead of the ring being bonded to the disc, it may be clamped between two discs. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
