Abstract
658,889. Pipe joints. TALLEY, H. A. E. March 11, 1949, No. 6687. [Class 99(i)] [Also in Group VI] In a gas-tight connection b e - tween a neck 2, of rubber-like material, described as forming part of a n anaesthetic facepiece, and a pipe 4, the neck has a metal ring 3 embedded in it. When the pipe 4 is inserted into the neck the layer of rubber, between the ring 3 and the pipe 4, is compressed to provide an airtight seal. Alternatively the pipe may fit outside the neck and, in either case, the contacting surfaces may be made conical. In a further modification the metal ring is split to give greater flexibility.
