669,500. Oil-seals. ANGUS & CO., Ltd., G., JAGGER, E. T., and WATSON, A. Feb. 28, 1950. No. 5059/50. Class 122(v). [Also in Group V] An internal oil seal comprises a sealing ring d of rubber or like material having an annular reinforcement consisting of rigid segments a the ends of which are closely spaced but do not contact so that the rubber ring may be split at an intersegmental place d<SP>1</SP> and may be opened by flexing at another d<SP>2</SP> to facilitate assembly. The segments may be of L-section metal bonded to the rubber. The Specification describes and claims a method of making the seal (see Group V). Specification 657,964 is referred to.
