Abstract
657,346. Gas turbine plant. POWER .JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT), Ltd. Jan. 4, 1949, No. 225. [Class 110(iii)] In a turbine plant using producer gas, the combustion chamber 15 is located at, or near, the producer. The producer is cooled by an air jacket through which part of the combustion air passes. Air from a compressor 7 is divided into three parts: one part goes through an exhaust gas heatexchanger 12 to the producer chamber 6, one part passes through an inner jacket space 16 and one part through an outer jacket space 17. Air from the inner jacket passes through a duct 18 to the space around a perforated tube 23 and is used as primary air. Air from the outer jacket passes through a duct 19 to the space around a perforated flame-stabilizing cone 24. A valve 25 is used to vary the division of the compressor air between the producer chamber and the jackets and the temperature in the combustion chamber 15 is controlled thereby. The turbine 8 drives the compressor 7 and an electric generator 20.
