Abstract

638,807. Gas turbine plant. DE HAVILLAND ENGINE CO., Ltd., HALFORD, F. B., and GAY, A. R. B. July 12, 1948, No. 18682. [Class 110(iii)] The ducts P, connecting a circular series of combustion chambers L with the turbine nozzle passages F<1>, are carried in a casing structure which comprises an apertured ring E, a nozzle-box F and inner and outer walls D, G rigidly connected to the ring and box. The structure is strengthened by radially-disposed partitions H welded to the ring E, the box F and the walls D, G. The ends of the combustion chambers fit slidingly in the apertures in the ring E, and the walls M enclosing the chambers are welded to the ring. The ducts P fit slidingly in both the ring E and the nozzle-box. Cooling air passes from space M<2>, through holes N<1> in sleeves N, welded to the combustion chamber necks, and holes O<1> to the space containing the ducts P.
