[Class 144 (i)] An annular fairing attachment 23 is secured to a wheel 201 by a plurality of adjustable draw-means each of which abuts part of the wheel and extends through gaps therein to engage in hooked association with an open channel section anchorage 231 on the rear face of the attachment 23. Figs. 3 and 4 show the fairing ring 23 with its inner periphery bent to form an annular hooked section 231 and engaged by hooked metal straps 24 passing through gaps 21 in the wheel immediately below the rim 20. The free end of each strap 24 is slotted and slidably arranged in a housing 25 where its slots are engaged by a rotatable screw-threaded rod or worm 26 for the retraction of its hooked end 241. The housing 25 has wedge-shaped projecting edges on its end face to lie centrally in the gap 21 abutting the edges 203 thereof. In an alternative arrangement the free end of the strap 24 is riveted or welded to a draw-bolt having a flat-topped abutment sleeve which engages the underside of the wheel rim, and the edges 203 of the gap 21. Other constructions are described wherein the hooked strap 24 is formed with, or attached to an internally screw-threaded member which is engaged by a screw carried by sheet metal abutment members. Figs. 12 and 12F show an arrangement wherein the hooked member 24 is formed as a wire loop, the free ends 248 of which engage in eccentric holes in an overcentre catch member 37 abutting the wheelgap edges 203. The first Provisional Specification states that the various attachment devices may be positionally adjusted in the gaps in the wheel to effect static balancing of the wheel.
