Abstract

1,035,024. Vehicle wheels. BROWN'S AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY CO. Ltd. Nov. 4, 1963 [Nov. 8, 1962], No. 42203/62. Heading B7C. A wheel strake, adapted to be secured to a tractor wheel, comprises a plurality of circumferentially spaced strake elements 16, each pivotally connected to a radially extending channel-shaped member 11 and adapted to be moved between, and secured in, the extended operative position (Fig. 1) and a retracted inoperative position. The members 11 are supported on two annular plates 12, 14, the plate 12 being provided with means for attachment to the wheel 13. Series of pairs of holes are provided along the channel sides of the members 11 so that locking pins 15 may be inserted. Each strake element 16 is provided at one end with a transverse socket through which passes a pivot-pin, which in turn passes through a selected pair of holes in the channel sides of a member 11. The elements 16 are locked to the members 11 in the radially outwardly extending, operative position or the radially inwardly-extended inoperative position by passing the locking pins 15 through appropriate pairs of holes in the member 11. The free end of each strake element 16 is provided with a head piece 18 in the form of a plate which lies in a plane perpendicular to the direction of rotation of the wheel.
