Abstract

989,182. Tyres. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. May 11, 1962 [June 1, 1961], No. 19755/61. Heading B7C. A tyre 1 for perambulators and the like comprises a length 3 of resilient tubular material, such as an extruded rubber tube, held in a closed annular shape by an endless reinforcing band 8 which is located in the bore 6 of the tube 3, there being a circumferentially extending slit 4 extending from the sur face of the tread 5 to the bore 6. The reinforcing band 8 may be a mild steel wire whose ends are secured to a sleeve as described in Specification 988,679. When the tyre is mounted on the rim of a wheel 2, the band 8 urges the tyre towards the run, so that an axially inward force is imposed on each side of the tyre to hold the slit closed.
