Abstract

881,804. Spare wheel carriers. TYRER, W. R. Oct. 20, 1959 [July 22, 1958], No. 23416/58. Class 136(1). A mounting bracket for fitting to a road vehicle comprises a flat or curved plate 4 carrying a pillar 5 on which a spare wheel 12 may be mounted, the plate 4 being connected with two or more resilient metal straps 6, 8 connected to one another by a bolt 7 and carrying at their outer ends metal clips 6c, 8b which are adapted to engage a linear edge of the vehicle. The pillar 5 passes through a hole 6a in the strap 6. A plate 13 and nut 14 retain the spare wheel 12 on the pillar 5. The straps 6, 8 are padded at points at which they are to contact the vehicle. The strap 8 may be replaced by a Y-shaped strap.
