Abstract

656,170. Cathode-ray tubes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. July 29, 1949, No. 366/51. Divided out of 656,150. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XL (b)] In a cathode-ray distributer, for use, for example, in multichannel pulse signalling systems, a plurality of secondary emissive targets are arranged in two concentric rings in staggered relation and the beam is deflected alternately from a target in one ring to a target in the other ring, output electrodes being provided for collecting the secondary emission. In the arrangement shown the targets in the outer ring are formed by parts of a glass or mica ring H, Fig. 2, associated with collectors A1, and those in the inner ring by parts of the glass end wall W associated with collectors A1<SP>1</SP>. Low-potential screens, Fig. 1 (not shown), are provided on those parts of the ring H and tube wall W which are not struck by the beam to assist in directing the secondaries to the final collectors. Fluorescent material may be deposited on the glass end wall to render the beam track visible. The beam trace is given the required form by means of a frusto-conical electrode F to which a voltage of rectangular waveform is applied.
