Abstract
655,414. Transformers. PEACH, E. R., and PYE, Ltd. May 3, 1949, No. 12157/48. [Class 38 (ii)] A radio-frequency transformer for use in admittance bridges, for coupling valves to their loads, or for matching feeders and aerials or balanced and unbalanced impedances, comprises a ring core of ferromagnetic material with a cavity housing a set of mutually coupled windings, there being one or more windings wound toroidally round the core. In a transformer (Fig. 3) for use in a bridge (Fig. 2, not shown), two rings 25, 25 of powdered magnetic material are secured together so that recesses 26, 26 form a cavity containing windings 27, 28. Two tightly coupled windings 31, 32 and a further winding 34 are wound round the core so that they are magnetically isolated from the windings 27, 28. The former pair cross each other twice in each turn, as shown in Fig. 6, to equalize their inductances. Three shields 30, 33 and 35 which may be connected together and earthed, form electrostatic screens between and around the windings (Fig. 4). Specification 566,970 is referred to.
