Abstract
655,052. Rollers. ARMSTRONG CORK CO. Dec. 23, 1947, No. 33983. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1946. [Class 42 (ii)] [Also in Group XIII] A calender roll has a roll casting 2 with annular channels 3 running circurnferentially around its inner surface and closed by an inner cylinder 4 fitting tightly into the casting 2. The ends of cylinder 4 are closed by plates 10 except for passages 8, 9, 8a, 9a, which supply the channels 3 with heating fluid. The end of the roll has a gudgeon 15 secured to the casting 2 by studs 16, the joint being sealed by a gasket 17. A pipe 18 passes through the centre of the gudgeon 15 to discharge the fluid which enters by the concentric passage 19. A hollow gudgeon 20 at the other end of the roll is sealed by a plate 21 held by studs 22, the gudgeon being secured to the casting 2 by studs 23. Gudgeons 15 and 20 have annular shoulders 24, 25 engaging the cylinder 4 to hold it in place.
