Abstract
638,078. Drying-cylinders. PAPIERFABRIK BALSTHAL AKT.-GES. July 3, 1947, No. 17576. Contention date, Oct. 25, 1946. [Class 34(i)] ,[Also in Group XXVIII] A drying-cylinder 1 of the type heated by hot water is journalled with its hollow trunnion 2 in a bearing 3, an inner tube 4 being secured in the trunnion 2 by screw 5 and a fluid seal 6 separating the inlet through the tube 4.from the annular outlet through the trunnion 2. A non-rotating. outlet chamber 7 is connected with the trunnion by a watertight joint 8 and a non-rotating inlet conduit 9 communicates with tube 4 by means of a labyrinth seal 10, the inlet passage being narrowed at 11 to increase the water velocity and reduce the static pressure to be substantially equal to that in the chamber 7. Parts 9 and 7 are pressed by a spring 12 to ensure a watertight seal at 8, the spherical shape of the seal allowing slight movement.
