Abstract
303,892. Eclipse Textile Devices, Inc., (Assignees of Carey, J. P., and Hasbrouck, L. B.). Jan. 12, 1928, [Convention date]. Fixed-chamber apparatus. - Relates to the multi-colour dyeing of textile materials' such as skeins of artificial silk while held between two clamping-members which loosely compress the portions A, B - - to be dyed and tightly clamp the intermediate portions E. The liquid is' admitted to the portions A, B - - in measured quantities and forced through by compressed air at about five pounds per square inch. The skeins are laid on a removable lower block 20 which is raised by a hand-wheel 30 and screw 27 into contact with the fixed upper block 40. The blocks 20, 40 have registering recesses containing perforated plates 35, 45, between which the portions A, B - - are loosely compressed, and ribs 36 and grooves 46 which tightly clamp the portions E. Dye liquors of different colours are admitted at 63, 55 to the respective measuring-chambers 50<a>, adjustable in capacity by screw closures 59, the air, and any dye with it, passing through ball valves 62 to vent pipes 61. Compressed air or other gas is then admitted from pipes 64 by simultaneously rotating the valves 56, and expels the dye past valves 57. The dye is carried completely through the portions A, B - - of the skeins, and passes by nipples 70 to drain-pipes 72.
