Abstract
654,755. Valve-gear. PORSCHE KONSTRUKTIONEN-GES. Nov. 10, 1948, Nos. 29200 and 29201. Convention dates, Nov. 10, 1947 and March 13, 1948. [Class 7(vi)] A valve lever 2<SP>1</SP> pivoted at 3' is split longitudinally at 7<SP>1</SP> and the amount by which the resilient arms 8<SP>1</SP>, 9<SP>1</SP>, are forced apart is adjusted by an expanding screw 13<SP>1</SP> to adjust the valve clearance. The screw 13<SP>1</SP> is shaped at 22<SP>1</SP> to fit an adjusting tool, and an enlarged part 16<SP>1</SP> forces the arms 8<SP>1</SP>, 9<SP>1</SP> apart, the screwed end 15<SP>1</SP> extending into the bore of the pivot pin 3' and co-operating with a groove 21 in the pin to prevent lateral movement thereof. The part 16<SP>1</SP> is fluted or roughened to maintain the screw 13<SP>1</SP> in its adjusted position. In a modification the axis of the expanding screw is radial to the axis of the pin 3<SP>1</SP> and a lock-nut secures the screw in its adjusted position.
