Abstract
654,508. Partitions; door jambs. CONSTRUCTORS, Ltd. Dec. 6, 1948, Nos. 31568/48. 2793/49 and 2794/49. [Classes 20(iii) and 20 (iv) Universal posts for supporting metal or glazed panels 22 comprise two half-post sections 12, 13 detachably secured to vertically spaced rectangular hollow blocks 14 in the form of a casting or pressing so that in cross-section the post has rectangular portions at the corners of a centre rectangle having diagonals in alignment with those of the corner portions. Slots 34 in opposite faces of the blocks have an upwardly directed limb for reception of a bolt also passing through the sections 12, 13 and locking the block in position. Other apertures 23, 35 provide for attachment to the floor or a side panel 36. Snap-on caps 29 seal the remaining cavities. In a modification, the base of two U-shaped pillar sections form opposite sides of the centre portion and their limbs the fourth side of the corner portions. The jambs 37 of a door frame may be secured to spring channels 38 located between the corner portions of a post and secured to the half-post section by a bolt 39 passing through an elongated hole in the channel 38, to enable the jamb to be vertically adjustable to clear a carpet &c. the top of the jamb fitting movably within a box-shaped transom.
