Abstract
653,889. Photographic enlargers. REID & SIGRIST, Ltd., and REID, G. H. Sept. 27, 1948, Nos. 25160 and 26917. [Class 98 (i)] An optical projection apparatus is provided with means for holding a transparency, several resilient pressure members against which one face of the holding means rests and abutment means against which the opposite face of the holding means rests and is characterized in that the abutment means are adjustable towards and away from the resilient pressure members to enable the holding means to be tilted relative to the optical axis of the apparatus. The photographic enlarger shown in Fig. 1 includes a condenser housing 13 to which is threaded a U-shaped member 15 to the lower limb 17 of which is secured a sleeve-member 19a which incorporates a focusing mechanism for the lens 19. The upper limb 16 of the member 15 includes bosses 22, 22a, Fig. 2, through which are threaded screws 23, 23a; the limb 17 of member 15 also includes bosses 24, 24a in which plungers 25, 25a are slidable and rotatable. Rotation of the plungers is effected by movement of levers 30, 30a connected thereto, such rotation causing movement of radial pins 29, 29a along cam surfaces 28, 28a on bosses 24, 24a and consequent movement of the plungers under or against the action of springs 27, 27a which tend to move the plungers vertically upwards so as to clamp a holder 18 for a negative between the limbs 16, 17 of the member 15. The negative holder 18 comprises a body 50, Fig. 5, which has an aperture 54 rebated at 55 to accommodate glass plates 56, Fig. 6, between which the negative is sandwiched. The upper plate 56 is held in place by clips 58, 58a which are pivoted on the body 50 at 59 and 59a, while the lower plate 56 is subject to the action of leaf-springs 65-68 which are carried on a plate 63 having a rectangular aperture 64. The springs also press plate 63 on to the L-shaped lever 69, which overlaps another L-shaped lever 70 and forms with it an adjustable masking aperture.
