Abstract

506,757. Optical-projection apparatus. ODLE, J. E., and MOEN, L. Dec. 3, 1937, No. 33505. [Class 97 (i)] Optical units for alternative use on a kinematograph projector are carried by mounts pivoted at the ends of an arm supported on the projector; the units may be a lens for monochrome projection and a lens system for additive colour projection. As shown, a curved arm 1 removably fitted on a pin 2 having a flat thereon has lens mounts 6, 7 pivoted at its ends. The mount 6 embodies a sleeve adjustable by a rack and pinion for focusing, and may be swung against an adjustable stop 22, in place of the mount 7, when it is to be used. The mount 7 is carried by a member 15 adjust - able along an extension 14 of a clamp 13 engaging a sleeve 11 adjustable on a pin 10 projecting from the arm 1; it may carry lenses each projecting one of a number of images in one film frame, and a collimating lens. For course rotary adjustment, the mount may comprise an outer portion which clamps an inner sleeve by means of a screw 16, the inner sleeve being provided, for fine adjustment, with lugs 17 carrying a screwed spindle 19 rotatable by a knob 20 to displace a fork 18 engaging a pin projecting from the lens. The mount 7 is located, in use. by all adjustable stop 24 on the clamp 13 which engages a finger 23. Eccentric pivot mounts for the mounts 6, 7 may be provided for additional adjustment. The pin 2 may be secured to a grooved block 3 which may be bolted to a pillar 4 on the projector ; other means for fixing the pin 2 to a projector are described.
