Abstract

991,287. Xerographic enlarger. RANKXEROX Ltd. May 25, 1961 [June 22, 1960], No. 18955/61. Headings G2A and G2H. An enlarger comprises in combination a projection system, said system including a lamp, a condenser lens, a film support for microfilm, said support comprising parallel spaced closure means operable to slideably receive a film holder therebetween and secure the film thereat and means to operate the closure means, and an adjustable objective lens; a boxlike enclosure containing a sensitive plate, an extensible bellows secured between the projection system and the enclosure and a reflective surface in the enclosure so that the projected image is reflected on to the plate at right angles. As shown the projection system 3 is connected to enclosure 1 by extensible bellows 2, the enclosure containing a xerographic plate 14 slid in to holder 10. The projection system consists of a lamp 49, a condenser lens system 19 and an adjustable focusing lens 57 focused by knob 61. The microfilm or plate is clamped in position by rotating knob 52 so that wedge flats 38 press pin 39 thus clamping glass plates 36 and 35. The condenser barrel 32 may be rotated through 90‹ by handle 33. The magnification ratio may be altered by moving the projection system along track 4, the magnification being indicated by pointer 24. The exposure is controlled by an automatic timer control 50 which includes a switch 74 so connected to provide full time voltage for focusing the lamp and connected through a resister in the timed circuit for exposure. The plate 14 is placed in holder 10 after focusing projected image on ground glass plate 12. Specifications 672,767, 944,940 and 950,313 are referred to.
