653,708. Cylinders. HEDGECOCK, S., and LAYSTALL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Aug. 12, 1948, No. 21299. [Class 7(ii)] [Also in Groups XXII, XXVI and XXXIV] A chromium plated cylinder 3 for an internal combustion engine has helical grooves 2 cut at regular intervals to form a fine network of oil retaining grooves. The grooves may extend over the whole bearing surface or part, e.g. thrust faces 4. The grooves, which are cut after chromium plating, have a depth of approximately twenty-four millionths of an inch.
