[Class 60] [Also in Groups XXVI and XXVII] The ring travel of an engine cylinder is honed to form grooves 10 in a cross-hatch pattern forming isolated plateaus 12. The depth of the grooves 10 should be at least .0002 in. and normally should not exceed .005 in., to conserve lubricant, and the amount of surface removed in cutting the grooves varies from 15-60 per cent.
