653,265. Feedwater heating systems; forced-flow steam boilers; heating buildings. DALIN. D. Nov. 4, 1947, No. 29408. Convention date, Sept. 9, 1943. [Classes 64(i), 64(ii) and 123(ii)] In a steam or hot-water boiler plant a current of the boiler circulation water, or a mixture of the circulation water and steam, drawn from a collecting drum 2 forming part of the boiler plant, is divided into at least two streams, one of which heats the feedwater in a heat-exchanger 9 and another of which is conducted to heating surfaces 8, 16 exposed to the flue or like gases, the circulation water or steamwater mixture and the feedwater both being positively circulated through the heat-exchanger, e.g. by pumps 13, 14. The part flowing through the feedwater heater 9 is reheated in the heater 5 in the flue 4. Steam from the drum 2 is superheated in the superheater 6. In a modification the heaters 6, 16 are replaced by a second reheater for the circulation water from the feedwater heater 9. In another form a third stream of the hot water drawn from the drum 2 heats a liquid in a heat exchanger and is reheated in waste heat boilers before return to the drum 2. In another form feedwater is heated in two feedwater heaters, between which it passes through a degasifier. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also arrangements in which all the water withdrawn from the drum passes through a water heater. In one form steam generated in the water heater passes to a superheater. In another form, boiler water, after generating steam in a heat exchanger, is reheated partly in two flue heaters and partly in furnace tubes. In other forms, boiler water or steam from the drum heats a separate steam generator and a water heater which supplies water to that steam generator. In another form, boiler water circulating from the drum through a heat exchanger heats water circulated through radiators. In another form, Fig. 7 (Cancelled), steam and water from waste heat boilers 32 pass to a common drum 30, and then through a coil 65 in a steam generator 29 before return to the boilers 32. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
