Abstract

653,261. Centrifugal pumps. BALDOCK, A. E. F. and MORRISON CARPENTER & CO., Ltd. Oct. 24, 1947, No. 28529. [Class 110(i)] [Also in Group II] A mixing machine is provided near the bottom with a centrifuging device comprising an annular plate 1 provided on one side with ogee shaped projections 6 and on the other with a sleeve 8 which is connected to a hub 11 by blades 10 set helically to act as a propeller. The centrifuge is secured to a vertical shaft for rotation a small distance from the bottom of the container, the projections 6 extending downwards. The propeller 10 draws material down into the centrifuge which then passes it outwardly over the bottom of the container. A wear plate may be provided beneath the centrifuge, attached to the bottom of the container. A similar centrifuge without the propeller 10 may be keyed to the shaft higher up. A plate may be placed beneath either centrifuge to control the force with which the material is flung outwardly. Baffles may be secured to the container to prevent swirling. The centrifuge is driven by a motor placed above the container. Specification 653,262 is referred to.
