Abstract

777,271. Batch mixing-machines: PINTO, U. Dec. 8, 1954, No. 35554/54. Class 86 A mixing and emulsifying device comprises a motor M secured by rods I to anagitator unit T the rotor G of which is driven by the motor through a shaft 4. The device is suspended from a pulley 13 by rope 12 secured to a counterweight 14 so that it can be lowered into or raised from a container 15 for the liquid to be mixed. As shown in Fig. - 3, the rotor G consists of an upper ring 2 and a larger lower ring 3 connected by helically-disposed blades such as 1, 1<SP>1</SP>, the blades being formed so as to be included between two concentric conial surfaces. The rotor revolves in a housing 6 having a series of internal helical blades such as 7, 7<SP>1</SP> and provided with a base ring 8 from which curved blades such as 9, 9<SP>1</SP> project upwardly, a small clearance existing between the inner and outer edges of the rotor blades and adjacent edges of blades 9 and 7 respectively. The liquid to be mixed enters through the base ring 8, passes between the fixed and moving blades and is projected upwardly from the agitator unit towards a deflector plate D which is adjustable for height on the rods I. The plate directs the liquid back into the container.
