Abstract
650,645. Mixing appliances. B. B. CHEMICAL CO., Ltd., and PUDDEFOOT, L. E. Oct. 7, 1948, No. 26124. [Class 86] A mixing apparatus comprises a turntable for rotating a container about a vertical axis and a stationary helically vaned stirrer mounted for vertical displacement above the turntable so that it may be lowered into the container. The turntable 11 is driven by an electric motor through a variable speed gear box and receives the container B which stands on a raised platform P beneath which a trolley may be run to transport the container. The stirrer comprises a helical vane 55 which is supported at a number of points in its length by a structure of rods suspended from a spider 25 which is attached to a slide 19 vertically displacable upon a pillar 17. The stirrer also comprises three radial vanes 85, 87, 89 which by means of a screw and nut mechanism 69, 97, can be vertically adjusted relative to the helical vane 55 to produce increased turbulence at the surface of the liquid being mixed.
