Abstract

1,251,926. Batch mixers. KOMBINAT PENTACON DRESDEN KAMERAUND KINOWERKE VEB, 19 May, 1970, No. 24162/70. Heading B1C. A device for mixing and pumping liquids comprises a centrifugal or gear pump 3, an impeller 4 and a drive motor 2, the impeller being mounted on a shaft 5 which is coupled to the take-off shaft 8 of the motor and which is axially displaceable on reversal of the motor to engage with or be disengaged from the driving shaft 11 of the pump. The shaft 5 is coupled to the shaft 8 by a pin- and-slot connection 8, 9 and to the shaft 11 by a releasable bayonet type connection, Fig. 2 (not shown). In operation clockwise rotation of the shaft 5 effects only mixing of the liquid by the impeller, and a guide plate 15 aids circulation, while anticlockwise rotation of the shaft 5 effects pumping by the pump 3, the liquid being delivered through a pipe 16. The device may be used for preparing photo-chemicals.
