Abstract

Apparatus for treating water with a phosphate has a paddle wheel 4 driven by the water flow in the direction a (Fig. 2), the paddle wheel driving a worm wheel 5 which draws some of the water through a by-pass starting at b (Fig. 2). The by-pass water passes over phosphate glass in a chamber 7 (Fig. 1) and into a chamber 3 from which it is drawn up through a central tube to the worm 5, reentering the main flow at the paddle wheel 4. The worm shaft has a stirrer 6. The solution rate of the glass may be selected by appropriate choice of ingredients for the glass.
